POLICE DEPARTMENT UPDATES:

Apprehension of San Diego Homicide Suspect

Last week, a Police Department detective was out in the City and saw a car that he recognized from a BOL (Be on the Lookout) bulletin from San Diego Police Department. The car had been stolen and involved in a homicide. The detective watched the car and the people that were inside of it while uniformed officers came in to the area. Two males, and a female that had tried to hide in a nearby restroom, were all arrested without any issues.San Diego Police Department detectives took the three suspects to their headquarters to question them.

Fentanyl Dealer Arrest

Detectives from the Police Department's special investigations unit, assisted by HSI's Fentanyl Abatement and Suppression Team, concluded a several month investigation with a search warrant in a neighboring city. The dealer had been arrested in our City with over a kilogram of fentanyl and ammunition in early 2022.He is a major source of fentanyl in our community, so his arrest was very important to us.When the detectives arrived at the residence to serve the warrant, there was also a juvenile in the house. When all was said and done, an adult male and an adult female were arrested for narcotics sales and child endangerment. The juvenile was taken into protective custody by the Drug Endangered Children branch of Child Welfare Services.

Baker to Vegas Relay

Members of the Escondido Police Department participated in the annual Baker to Vegas Challenge Cup Relay race this past weekend. The Baker to Vegas race is a grueling competition that spans 120 miles and consists of 20 stages. Despite the race's intense physical and mental demands, the members of the Escondido Police Department rose to the challenge and demonstrated their strength and endurance. By working together as a team and pushing themselves to their limits, they showed that they are dedicated to serving and protecting their community and committed to maintaining their own health and well-being. Their participation in this challenging event is a testament to their resilience and determination, and they should be proud of their accomplishment.
