POLICE DEPARTMENT UPDATES:

 

Penal Code 69 - Resisting an Officer

On November 2, officers responded to a call of an adult male trying to get onto the Lincoln Elementary School campus. Staff, including the principal, confronted the subject. When officers attempted to detain the male, he began to violently resist. He was eventually taken into custody.

Every person who attempts, by means of any threat or violence, to deter or prevent an executive officer from performing any duty imposed upon the officer by law, or who knowingly resists, by the use of force or violence, the officer, in the performance of his or her duty, is punishable by a fine not exceeding ten thousand dollars ($10,000), or by imprisonment pursuant to subdivision (h) of Section 1170, or in a county jail not exceeding one year, or by both such fine and imprisonment.

CarMax Capture

On November 5, a security officer at CarMax called Escondido Police Dispatch to report a subject breaking into a truck. Officers surrounded the business on all sides. As police closed in, the suspect parked the car, jumped the west wall and attempted to flee from officers. He was quickly captured and was booked for felony vandalism, auto-theft, and possession of methamphetamine.

The District of Columbia, New Mexico, California, and Missouri rounded out the top five states for motor vehicle theft in that year. Nationwide, the rate of motor vehicle theft stood at 246 cases per 100,000 residents.

Hero Awards Event

On November 4, the 9th annual Hero Awards showcased San Diego's dedicated first responders and public safety leaders who have gone above and beyond in their efforts to serve the region.

FIRE DEPARTMENT UPDATES:

 

On October 31, the Fire Department responded to the corner of Ash St. and Stanley Ave. for a traffic collision. The occupants were not injured but the vehicle did strike a fire hydrant. The Utilities Department responded to shut down the water flow and replace the hydrant.

On October 31, the Fire Department responded to Valley Parkway and Tulip Street for a traffic collision where four people were injured and one was trapped in a vehicle that had struck a pole. Due to the trapped victim and the number of patients, the truck company, additional Rescue Ambulance and a Battalion Chief were requested. Firefighters extricated an adult male from the vehicle using hydraulic tools. Four patients were transported to two hospital trauma centers.

On October 31, the crew at Fire Station #2 (Midway) welcomed many neighborhood trick-or-treaters in between their calls.

On November 1, the Fire Department responded to a single vehicle collision on Centre City Parkway and Iris Lane. Upon arrival, one adult male was found trapped inside a vehicle that had stuck a tree. Firefighters utilized hydraulic tools to extricate the victim and he was transported to a local hospital.

Permits and Inspections:

Building Division

1. Counter staff conducted in-person meetings with 97 applicants, processed 67 applications, and issued 45 permits.

2. The total permit valuation for the week was $457,916.

3. Building inspectors completed 259 building inspections.

Field Engineering Division

1. Field Engineering processed 13 permits.

2. Field Engineering inspectors completed 279 inspections.
