Escondido Art Gallery Dedicated to Children throughout March
The Escondido Art Association will dedicate its gallery to children's art throughout March for Art Education Month. Through their Kids Kaleidoscope program, K-11 students can submit one piece of art, either 2D or 3D, with a maximum size of 20 inches on all sides, including its frame. The winners will receive art kits in four grade categories.
EAA's scholarship program is exclusively for graduating seniors from any high school in Escondido. Donations from the Youth Education Fund, the East Escondido Rotary Club and the community at large allows the association to give $1,000 in scholarships to students.
The awards include $500 for first place, $250 for second place, $150 for third place and two honorable mention awards for $50 each. Submissions close March 2. Learn more in the Coast News Article covering this story.

Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) Review
On June 7, 2023 the Escondido City Council approved the 2023-2028 Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS). This document outlines data and community feedback about the City's economy and outlines a five-year plan to improve the local economy.
Based on the analysis of local data and community intelligence, as reflected in the SWOT analysis, it is recommended that Escondido pursue a highly disciplined economic development strategy that is focused on improving four community fundamentals.
FUNDAMENTAL 4 - INTENTIONAL PLACEMAKING AND MARKETING
Feedback from Escondido's business community and residents has uncovered a gap between how Escondido is experienced by its residents and how it is perceived from the outside. This insider/outsider mismatch is an occasion for The City to tell its own story better. Escondido officials and allies should increase their efforts to ensure that key strengths, including superior natural amenities and comfortable quality of life, are recognizable. Moreover, as the City continues to address its weaknesses, and embrace new opportunities, it needs to be sure that it is updating the rest of the world on these developments. For the sake of sustainable economic development, Escondido cannot afford to be North County's "best kept secret" for much longer.
