Decisions Made on the Project

  • Awarded contract to Erickson Hall in the amount of $4,051,000.00 for the construction of Fire Station 6
  • Awarded contract to Southland Paving for grading
  • Conducted biological study in April 2007 to verify there are no nesting raptors just prior to grading work
  • Demolished structures on the property in December 2006
  • Approved Conditional Use Permit and Zone Change on October 25, 2006
  • Scheduled a neighborhood meeting in the Mitchell Room at City Hall on Monday, June 12, 2006, 6:30 p.m.
  • Reviewed preliminary design drawings
  • Initiated eminent domain proceedings to acquire property addressed as 1735 Del Dios Road for use as Fire Station 6
  • Selected WLC Architects to provide architectural services for Fire Station 6

It is anticipated that the three new fire stations and the reconstruction of Fire Station 1 will be designed and constructed concurrently for maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Project Location and Description

This facility will be a small-sized fire station located at 1735 Del Dios Road on a 1.5 acre parcel. It will be approximately 7,360 square feet with approximately 3,667 square feet of apparatus floor and associated areas, 1,860 square feet of living quarter areas,350 square feet of office space, and 183 square feet of public area. It will accommodate 1 paramedic fire engine and 1 wildland brush engine.

Project Budget

The total Prop P budget is $5.0 million, which includes land acquisition, design, construction, parking and furnishings.
