A new permit may apply to your business. The State of California General Industrial Permit (2014-0057-DWQ, effective July 1st, 2015) replaces and expands a previous General Industrial Permit issued in 1997. It applies to businesses including, but not limited to, manufacturing facilities, landfills, recycling facilities, transportation facilities, hazardous waste treatment, storage, and disposal facilities.
Fines for non-compliance can be significant, so industry is encouraged to verify whether they are subject to these regulations and to comply as necessary. State staff and other interested parties will be actively identifying which businesses should enroll in this permit and will take action accordingly.
