Trail Maintenance at Daley Ranch

Recently, the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) youth participated in trail maintenance at Daley Ranch. In total, 35 youth and coaches pitched in and did amazing work on the Crest trail.

To make the day even more of a success, Specialized Bicycle sponsored the work day as part of their Soil Searching Initiative to support trails. Specialized graciously provided lunch, refreshments and some awesome merch for all of the participants.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this volunteer opportunity, the City of Escondido appreciates your hard work! Learn about other volunteer opportunities in Escondido here.

POLICE DEPARTMENT UPDATES:

Child Neglect

On March 1, a reporting party called Escondido Police Dispatch to report that an infant was left alone in a Black Toyota Sequoia. When officers arrived, they found a child crying alone inside the vehicle. The child was transported to Rady's Children's Hospital for treatment and the mother was located and arrested. Child Welfare Services assisted in transporting them from Rady's Children's Hospital to Polinsky Children's Center.

Did You Know?

In California, a parent, legal guardian, or other person responsible for a child who is 6 years of age or younger may not leave that child inside a motor vehicle without being supervised by a person who is 12 years of age or older.

What is the Polinsky Children's Center?

The Polinsky Children's Center is a 24-hour facility for the temporary emergency shelter of children who must be separated from their families for their own safety, or when parents cannot provide care. Each month more than 100 children ages birth to 17 years old are admitted to the Polinsky Children's Center.

City Hall Damage

On March 3, a witness heard glass breaking and noticed a male standing near a large window in front of the City Hall Training Room. Officers arrived and contacted the suspect who stated that the voices in his head told him to "do it". The estimated value of the damage was about $1,000.
