Field Engineering is also responsible for processing of encroachment permits for work planned within the City right of way. The Inspection staff enforces the proper implementation of traffic control devices by any contractor working in the City right of way as necessary to protect the safety of the traveling public. The Field Engineering Inspection team also monitors the proper installation and maintenance of storm water Best Management Practices (BMPs) to prevent the discharge of pollutants into the storm drain system. The Survey group provides survey services to Field Inspection, the Capital Design group, and other City Departments or Divisions requesting surveying services.
