FIRE DEPARTMENT UPDATES:

On April 16, Escondido Fire teamed up with Escondido Police to surprise a family that experienced a fire in their garage last week.  Upon learning that the birthday gifts intended for Matias, the seven-year-old son of the affected family, had been lost in the fire, Fire and Police personnel organized a heartwarming surprise. They presented Matias with new gifts, a cake, and even a brand-new bicycle to celebrate his special day amidst the challenging circumstances.  The full story can be viewed here:

In midafternoon of April 16, Engine 124 was dispatched to a residence to remove two rattle snakes from the yard.  As temperatures rise, sightings of rattlesnakes become increasingly frequent. It's important to exercise caution and remain vigilant when out and about this spring and summer.

In the evening of April 16, fire units assisted the Escondido Police Department with a serious vehicle collision requiring patient extrication around North Broadway and Lincoln Avenue.

On April 19, Escondido Police and Fire units were dispatched to a traffic collision on the Valley Center Grade. One patient required extrication utilizing the “jaws of life” and other hydraulic tools.    A total of three people were transported to Palomar as a result of the collision.
