North County OASIS is a jointly-sponsored program through the City of Escondido, Macy's Department Stores, the County of San Diego Aging and Independence Services, and Palomar Pomerado Health. OASIS offers intergenerational tutoring opportunities for older adults with children in the local school districts, travel opportunities, and a variety of classes and seminars.

OASIS is a national nonprofit educational organization designed to enhance the quality of life for mature adults. Offering challenging programs in the arts, humanities, wellness, technology and volunteer service, OASIS creates opportunities for older adults to continue their personal growth and provide meaningful service to the community.

OASIS has a wide variety of free offerings for adults over 55. Classes and lectures are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. We offer 150 different classes in the humanities, science, technology, nature, finance, and health and wellness. Some of the lectures include Square Food Gardening, Chinese Medicine, Mythology of the Night Sky, County Parks and Campgrounds, Computer Alphabet Soup, Travel Scams, and the Wonders of Soy.

Our OASIS travel group has many one-day trips around the area as well as longer sojourns. The travel department often sponsors lectures and travel presentations with slides, where you can take a mental trip as a preview of the real experience. OASIS travel is a refreshing wellspring of new ideas and places.

OASIS international tutoring offers volunteer opportunities in tutoring young children who are just learning to read. Consider sharing your life experience with a young person who can really benefit from it.
