Building Inspection Information:

 

    You can now submit your inspection request online:
 
 

For Next Day Inspection, you will need to submit your inspection request before 3:00 PM on the working day prior to the inspection.  Inspection requests received on the working day prior to a holiday will be scheduled for the next business day if submitted before 3:00 PM. 

On the day of inspection, the job must be ready and site must be accessible between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. 

Please note - WE DO NOT call or email to confirm inspection times. Your scheduled time frame can be viewed by clicking the below link after 9 AM on the day of your scheduled inspection: 

We do NOT guarantee inspector arrival times. The time frames given are estimates only. 

To speak to an inspector, dial 760-839-4647 between 8:00 AM - 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM, and select the appropriate extension.

Important Information

AS OF 1 AUGUST 2022 - THE BUILDING DIVISION WILL ONLY ACCEPT PLANS IN AN ELECTRONIC FORMAT. 

The following types of permits must utilize the portal. 

  • Residential MEP Trade
  • Residential Re-Roof
  • Residential Water Heater
  • Residential HVAC Mechanical
  • Commercial and Residential Solar / PV
  • Commercial Sign

All other types of permits must bring their application to the front counter or email their application to buildingpermits@escondido.org. If your application is complete and accepted you will be given a link to upload and submit your plans electronically. 

Expediting of residential roof top solar permits is available. See information Guidelines 24A and 24B.
