Water Conservation Programs/Rebates

SOCAL WATER$MART REBATES- Metropolitan Water District offers a financial incentive for the following water efficient devices.

  • High-Efficiency Clothes Washer
  • High-Efficiency Toilets
  • Rotating Sprinkler Nozzles
  • Rain Barrels
  • Weather Based Irrigation Controller
  • Soil Moisture Sensor System

Interested in replacing older, less water efficient equipment for your business or want to improve an existing irrigation system to improve water use for agricultural operations? Then this is the program for you. More details are available on the Be Water Wise Program website

REBATES are currently available on select devices that can help residents and businesses save water. Visit SoCal Water $mart for more information on qualifying products and the application process. All programs are handled on a first-come, first-served basis until the limited funding is exhausted.

ARTIFICIAL TURF The San Diego County Water Authority partners with artificial turf companies to provide customers with a discount on turf materials and installation from participating retailers. Participating companies include Turf Evolutions, EasyTurf, Hellas and Athletic Turf Solutions. The program is open to residential, commercial and public sector property owners. No application is necessary. Customers can call any of the participating vendors and mention the Water Authority’s program.

SDG&E also offers rebates for residences and for businesses .

FREE EVALUATIONS of single-family homes, multi-family, commercial, public and industrial buildings are available. See the descriptions below, and visit WaterSmart Checkup or call 866-883-1332 to learn more.

For Single-Family Customers – Free professional evaluations designed to assist customers with the identification of indoor and outdoor water savings opportunities. Technicians will:

  • Evaluate the performance of the site's irrigation system.
  • Provide a list of recommendations.
  • Provide a proposed watering schedule.

For Commercial and Multi-Family Customers – Free on-site evaluations of commercial, industrial, institutional and multi-family properties that will identify water-saving opportunities for the site. Property owners/managers can then decide if, when and how to implement the recommendations. At the appointment, technicians will:

  • Evaluate the performance of the site's irrigation system.
  • Provide a list of recommendations.
  • Provide a proposed watering schedule.

SDCWA Sustainable Landscape Incentive Program The San Diego Sustainable Landscapes Program offers $1.75 per square foot for qualified applicants who replace water-intensive turf grass with landscaping that provides several environmental benefits. Eligible projects must include rainwater capture and detention, soil enhancements, climate-appropriate plants, water-efficient irrigation methods and are subject to site inspections.
