Water Conservation Programs and Rebates

San Diego County Water Authority's Income-Qualified Direct Install Toilet Program (SDCWA)  — Income-qualified customers can get free toilets for their homes. This program is designed to help residents and multi-family property owners reduce water use by replacing older toilets with high-efficiency toilets. Eligible participants can also upgrade to weather-based irrigation controllers.

SoCal Water$mart Residential Rebates — Metropolitan Water District offers a financial incentive for the following water-efficient devices:

  • High-Efficiency Clothes Washer
  • High-Efficiency Toilets
  • Rotating Sprinkler Nozzles
  • Rain Barrels
  • Weather Based Irrigation Controller
  • Soil Moisture Sensor System
  • Turf Replacement Program

The WaterSmart Contractor Incentive Program for Commercial, Industrial, Agricultural, and Institution Customers (WSCIP) — Rebates are currently available on select devices that can help commercial (including HOA's), industrial, institutional and agricultural sites. Call (888) 521-9763 for more information on qualifying products and enrollment. 

SDG&E — Rebates are offered for residences and businesses. 

FREE Evaluations are available for single-family homes, multi-family customers, commercial and industrial properties. See the descriptions below and visit Water Use Survey to learn more.

Single-Family Customers — Free professional evaluations designed to assist residential customers with the identification of indoor and outdoor water savings opportunities. Residential surveys may be conducted in-person or virtually. Technicians will:

  • Evaluate the performance of the site's irrigation system and indoor devices.
  • Provide a list of recommendations, including a proposed irrigation schedule.
  • Provide information about available financial incentives to help with the cost of improvements. 

Multi-Family and Commercial Customers — Free on-site evaluations of commercial, industrial, institutional and multi-family properties that will identify water-saving opportunities for the site. Property owners/managers can then decide if, when and how to implement the recommendations. At the appointment, technicians will:

  • Conduct a comprehensive review of the irrigation system. 
  • Provide recommendations to improve irrigation efficiency.
  • Provide information about available financial incentives to help with the cost of improvements.
