San Diego Gas and Electric anticipates that power will begin to be restored in phases throughout the County later tonight, with most areas being restored throughout the day on Friday, September 9. Escondido public elementary schools and high schools will be closed on Friday, September 9.

Temperatures in Escondido are still expected to be hot on Friday. A “cool zone” for older adults and disabled persons with health problems that could be complicated by hot weather has been designated at the Community Room of the Police and Fire Headquarters, 1163 N. Centre City Parkway.  It will be open Friday between 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

City officials report that all backup generators at city facilities, including the water and wastewater plants, are functioning without any problems.

Escondido residents are advised to stay at home, if at all possible.  If you must go out, motorists are advised to treat any non-working traffic signals as a four-way stop.   Please do not call,  9-1-1 unless you have a life-threatening emergency.
