Due to the installation of new recycled water pipes, the City of Escondido advises pedestrians and bicyclists that access along the bike path on the north side of the Escondido Creek Channel between Broadway and Hickory St. will be completely closed –including after hours - to all through traffic for the next several months, starting on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 up to Monday, January 18, 2016. All pedestrian detour signs will be posted. During this time period the bike path will be considered as a construction zone. Therefore, only construction crews and emergency personnel will be permitted into the area. Work will be performed between 8:00AM to 4:00PM.
Future updates will be provided acknowledging which sections of the bike path have been returned to service; pedestrian detour signs will also be reassigned.
Persons with questions or comments may contact Mark Lewis, City of Escondido Field Engineering Inspector II, at 760-807-1121; Wayne Papac, MBL Project Construction Manager at 619-247-7828 or Greg Gomez, Resident Engineer at (760) 902-7249
The new pipes are part of the City’s Recycled Water Easterly Main Extension Project which will provide reclaimed water to local citrus farmers and the North County Cemetery District in eastern Escondido.
