Escondido, CA – Escondido Public Library’s 2nd Saturday Concert Series presents Opera Exposed! on January 10, 2015, at 3:00 p.m. in the Turrentine Room. Back by popular demand, this special program features pianist and lecturer Dr. Nicolas Reveles, San Diego Opera’s Director of Education and Outreach, along with aspiring opera singers from local universities performing arias and selections from favorite operas. Early arrival is highly recommended for this popular event. Seating is on a first come, first serve basis and may be limited.

Opera Exposed! is presented through the San Diego Opera’s University Partners Program to promote understanding and appreciation of opera. “Opera selections are provided by an ensemble of undergraduate voice students from the University of San Diego, Point Loma Nazarene University, and San Diego State University, enthusiastically spreading the knowledge and joy of opera!” said Dr. Reveles. “They will be performing selected works from Mozart, Puccini, Gounod, Donizetti, and others.” Dr. Reveles accompanies the singers on piano and provides commentary that reveals the great stories behind the operas. This program provides an engaging and entertaining afternoon of music featuring the human voice as the main instrument.

The Escondido Public Library’s 2nd Saturday Concert Series runs through May, 2015, and features an array of diverse musical styles from classical to jazz. February’s 2nd Saturday Concert presents Virtual Strangers, a highly talented and energetic bluegrass band whose sound is a mixture of traditional and progressive bluegrass.

The 2nd Saturday Concert Series is free and open to the public and generously sponsored by Friends of the Escondido Public Library. Escondido Public Library is located at 239 S. Kalmia Street, Escondido, California 92025. For more information, please call Senior Librarian Paul Crouthamel at 760-839-4814 or visit the Library online at library.escondido.org.
