Construction on a new bike path/pedestrian walkway under Ash Street (SR 78) at Escondido Creek will begin next week. During construction, the current bike path along the channel will be closed.  Beginning Monday, September 26, 2011, the western path from Ash to Beech will close and the eastern path from Ash to Harding, will close on Tuesday, September 27, 2011.  The bike path is anticipated to reopen around January 1, 2012. Detours signs will be placed to direct the pedestrians around the construction.   

The project is funded by the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG)  and is anticipated to cost $2,045,183. The contractor for the project is Southland Paving.
