Purpose

The Personnel Board of Review serves as an autonomous hearing body to review and issue findings regarding disciplinary actions being appealed by full-time, permanent, classified employees.

Areas of jurisdiction include:

  • Reviewing disciplinary matters involving suspensions exceeding five days, salary reductions, demotions or dismissals that have been appealed to the Board by full-time, regular, classified employees
Membership: Seven members ( List of board members )
Meeting Schedule: As needed
Length of Term: Four years
Responsible Department: Human Resources Department
Qualifications/Conditions: Must reside within the geographic boundaries of the General Plan. No person who holds any paid City office or employment shall be appointed to the Board, nor shall any Board members be eligible for appointment to any City office or for any form of City employment during Board tenure or for a period of one year following resignation or termination of membership on the Board, other than elective office.

Training: City staff provides an initial orientation and ethics training in accordance with state law.
