City of Escondido

Enjoy Escondido Parks & Open Space

Our section of the Public Works Department cares for Escondido’s parks, median and parkway landscaping, and open spaces. We maintain the turf, irrigation, and planter beds at various City facilities including City Hall and the California Center for the Arts, Escondido. Vegetation control is also an important part of a citywide beautification effort.

Parks and Streets employees are always working behind the scenes of special city events, from the downtown Street Fair to our annual Christmas Parade. As you enjoy Cruisin’ Grand on a Friday night, join in a volunteer project, or celebrate family time at a playground, be sure to give a wave to our friendly workers in the yellow vests.

Trees make all the difference in our parks and open spaces. To read more about Escondido's Urban Forest of over 65,000 trees, click here.

Each of our parks comes with its own personality. Thousands of visitors join us for county, state, and country-wide events, including cross-country races, softball, and soccer tournaments. We team up with the Recreation Department to keep things running smoothly with clean restroom facilities, trash collection, safe playground equipment, and graffiti removal.

Between James A. Stone and Washington Park pools, we keep over 300,000 gallons of swimming water healthy and sparkling with constant checks and adjustments.
