Purpose

The Oversight Board is a seven member board established by state law (ABx1 26) which provided for the dissolution of redevelopment agencies in California.  In Escondido, the former Escondido Redevelopment Agency was known as the Escondido Community Development Commission (CDC). The City of Escondido, acting as the Successor Agency to the former redevelopment agency, is charged with managing and dissolving the assets of the former agency.  The Oversight Board reviews and directs the successor agency in its efforts to wind down the former redevelopment agency’s operations. The members of the Oversight Board are appointed by specific entities within the former redevelopment area as required by statute.
