NEWS RELEASE FROM THE CA STATE DEPT OF TRANSPORTATION

SAN  DIEGO – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) expects traffic  delays  next week as both directions of State Route 78 (SR-78) may be  closed  for five consecutive nights at the Nordahl Road Bridge starting Sunday,  March  25 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.  Motorists are urged to avoid the area.

Caltrans said the work is necessary to prepare for the future demolition of the  east side of the Nordahl Road Bridge. Traffic delays are also expected
on  Nordahl  Road  during  these closures. The nighttime work will generate more noise in the area.

Motorists  traveling  in this construction area will be detoured to exit at the Nordahl Road off-ramp then reenter SR-78 at the Nordahl Road on-ramp.

The  closures  may  be  rescheduled  if  weather  or construction materials availability plays a role.
