City Manager Clay Phillips announced today that Christopher McKinney has been selected as the Director of Utilities.  Mr. McKinney will begin his employment on November 14, 2011 and replaces Lori Vereker who took a position in Concord in northern California in August. 

 Mr. McKinney has served as the Deputy Director of San Diego’s Wastewater Treatment and Disposal Division since 2009.  Prior to that he was employed at San Diego Public Utilities from 2007-2009 as the Asset Management Coordinator, and as the Assistant Electrical Engineer from 2002-2007. Mr. McKinney earned a Master of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree.

 In announcing the appointment, City Manager Clay Phillips expressed enthusiasm for Mr. McKinney saying, “Chris brings a proven track record and a full awareness of the water and wastewater issues facing the city and the region. He will be a great addition to our management team.”
