POLICE DEPARTMENT UPDATES:

Robbery

On June 30, a man got into an argument with the owner of Tire Four Less at 1048 East Valley Parkway. The man was able to get inside a back room and take about $300-$400 of cash. He then pushed the owner out of his way when he tried to stop him. The man's girlfriend was at the business with him and helped stop employees from calling 911. Police Officers, with the assistance of San Diego Sheriff's Helicopter, ASTREA, located the pair near their home and were arrested without any further issues. On her trip to jail, the woman decided that she did not wish to go to jail. She was brought to Palomar Medical Center for possible medical issues and began biting, punching, and kicking officers. She was then charged with violently resisting officers, on top of her robbery and conspiracy charges.

DID YOU KNOW???

The crime of PC136.1 states that it is illegal to prevent or attempt to prevent a victim or witness from reporting or testifying about a crime. The crime can be charged as either a felony or misdemeanor, which means that these suspects added another possible felony to their charges when they tried to keep employees from calling 911.

Burglary, Vandalism and Arson

On June 27, Escondido Police responded to burglary at the Boys and Girls Club at 115 Woodward Ave. An unknown suspect broke a window and stole five Samsung tablets and six iPads. The broken window was boarded up with plywood. Later that evening, police and fire responded to a fire alarm at the location and a witness saw a man running from the scene. A few hours later, officers responded back again for another burglary alarm. When officers arrived this time, they found out that the plywood had been removed. There was no further theft, but a male was seen running from the building after the alarm sounded. The male in both cases is believed to be the same person.
