Senior Nutrition Program New Volunteers

The Park Avenue Community Center (PACC) is excited to welcome local business, Advance Auto Parts and their team as volunteers with our Senior Nutrition program. Beginning in December 2021, Ramon Leano and his team reached out to the City for an opportunity to give back to their community. They found their perfect connection at the PACC in serving with the Senior Nutrition program 3 days per week and we are very grateful to have them. Advance Auto is a wonderful example of local business commitment to the community! If you are interested in giving back, check out our volunteer opportunities at: volunteer.escondido.org/

FIRE DEPARTMENT UPDATES:

On January 24, the Escondido Police and Fire Communication Center received a report of a fire at 1301 S. Hale Ave, the Green Tree Mobile Home Park. The small fire was contained to a fence and detached shed between residences and was quickly extinguished by the first arriving Firefighters. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

On January 24, Firefighters responded to a reported dumpster fire at 620 W. Mission Ave., in the rear area of Lowes. Upon arrival, they found a large dumpster on fire that had spread to a stack of cargo pallets. The fire was quickly contained and controlled, however the fire did cause damage to the exterior of the building. Significant overhaul with heavy equipment was required to ensure that all combustible materials were extinguished. During the initial fire investigation, it was determined that the cause was arson. Surveillance video from the neighboring business was found and it showed a person in the areas of the fire when it started. Fire Investigators and Escondido Police Department Detectives were able to identify the suspect and his location on January 25. Following a surveillance operation, the suspect was arrested and he is in custody awaiting charges by the DA for felony arson.
