Escondido, CA Escondido Public Library’s Burritos & Book Club, for teens, for ages 13 to 18 years, meets on Thursday, May 21, 2015, in the Turrentine Room from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. Insomnia, by J.R. Johansson, is the selected title for the discussion and complimentary burritos will be provided. Copies of Insomnia are currently available for checkout at the Library’s Information Desk or can be reserved using the Library’s catalog on the website at library.escondido.org.

Insomnia introduces Parker Chipp, a high school junior who hasn’t slept in four years. Instead of sleeping every night, Parker enters the dreams of the person he last made eye contact with, preventing him from sleeping peacefully. If something doesn’t change soon, Parker could be facing death. Change comes in the form of Mia, whose dreams are so calm that Parker is able to get much needed sleep. But when someone begins terrorizing Mia, Parker’s memory blackouts leave him doubting his own innocence.

In addition to discussing Insomnia, time will be set aside to share opinions and ideas about other books participants have enjoyed and propose titles for the next meeting. The selected book will be discussed at the Teen Summer Reading Club edition of Burritos & Book Club, on Wednesday, July 15, 2015. Participants receive a free book or audiobook at the end of the program.

Cathy Janovitz, Escondido Public Library’s Teen Librarian commented, “Burritos & Book Club provides a forum for teens to share opinions, feelings, and insights in a casual and comfortable environment about any book that interests them.”

This program is generously sponsored by Friends of the Escondido Public Library and Taco Bell located at 627 N. Escondido Boulevard in Escondido, CA.
