Escondido, CA Escondido Public Library’s Burritos & Book Club for teens, ages 13 to 18, meets on Saturday, September 12, 2015, in the Turrentine Room from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Conversion, by Katherine Howe, is the selected title. Copies of Conversion are currently available for checkout at the Library’s Information Desk or can be reserved using the Library’s online catalog at library.escondido.org.

Conversion is a mystery that has a dual historical focus on the Salem Witch Trials and modern day life at St. Joan’s High School in Danvers, Massachusetts. Many of the girls at St. Joan’s exhibit a series of medical symptoms that cannot be explained. As Colleen Rowley begins research on the Salem Witch Trials, she begins to notice similarities between what happened in 1706 and what is happening now. In 1706, Ann confesses to the part she played in the Salem Witch Trials twelve years earlier. The interweaving of these two teen’s stories creates an intense tale that will keep readers guessing until the final reveal.

In addition to discussing Conversion, teens can share their opinions and ideas about other books they have enjoyed and propose titles for the next Burritos & Book Club meeting. The selected book will be discussed at the next meeting on Saturday, November 7, 2015. Complimentary burritos will be provided and all participants receive a free book or audiobook at the end of the program.

This program is generously sponsored by Friends of the Escondido Public Library and Taco Bell located at 627 N. Escondido Boulevard in Escondido. Library programs, events, and services are free and open to the public. Escondido Public Library is located at 239 South Kalmia Street in Escondido, California.
