Escondido, CA Escondido Public Library’s Burritos & Book Club for teens ages 13- 18, meets on Saturday, January 21, 2017, in the Turrentine Room from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Feed, by M. T. Anderson, is the selected title and copies are available for checkout at the Library’s Information Desk or can be reserved using the Library’s online catalog at library.escondido.org.  Students at Escondido High School, San Pasqual High School, and Orange Glen High School can also check out copies at their school library.

Set in a dystopian future, this teen novel takes place in a time when the population has a constant stream of games, shows, chats, and ads, fed directly into their brain. It’s spring break, and Titus and his friends are partying on the moon when a hacker disrupts their feeds—leaving them stuck with nothing but their own thoughts. Soon afterward, Titus meets Violet, a girl rebelling against the feed, thinking for herself. Now that Titus knows there is another way to live, he must decide whether to join the fight or accept a mind-controlling existence. Find out the path Titus and Violet pursue in this cautionary tale.

After discussing Feed, teens can share other books they have enjoyed and select the next Burritos & Book Club title. Complimentary burritos will be provided, and all participants receive a free book or audiobook at the end of the program. This will be the first Burritos & Book Club meeting in 2017. The next meeting will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017.

This program is generously sponsored by Friends of the Escondido Public Library and Taco Bell located at 1944 E. Valley Parkway in Escondido. Library programs, events, and services are free and open to the public. Escondido Public Library is located at 239 South Kalmia Street in Escondido, California.
