Thank you, Church at Rancho Bernardo!
Recently, over 800 volunteers with The Church at Rancho Bernardo gathered at Kit Carson Park and around City Hall for their annual "Serve Day." The Church at Rancho Bernardo is a faith-based organization committed to being good neighbors in North County and wanted to volunteer for park improvements in Escondido. In addition to volunteering in our parks, they provided 50 Thanksgiving baskets for families, 600 meals to Interfaith Community Services, 200 personal care kits for the Park Avenue Community Center seniors, and more. We are incredibly thankful for their efforts! If you are interested in volunteering within the City of Escondido visit, volunteer.escondido.org

POLICE DEPARTMENT UPDATES:
Shop with a Cop
The Shop with a Cop event was a great success. On Thursday, there was a wonderful turnout of parents, kids, and police department staff for the meet and greet portion of the event. Then, Saturday morning started off filled with food, hot cocoa, Sea World shows, and the best thing ever for these kids a fun shopping spree. All the law enforcement departments involved and their participating kids had a great time. Thanks again to the many people that worked on the event and the fundraising it takes to make this possible. Without all of you, it would have never have been such a great success.

FIRE DEPARTMENT UPDATES:
On November 27, the Escondido Police and Fire Communication Center received reports of a residential structure fire located at 1749 Fairdale Ave. Units responding noticed smoke showing in the distance and requested a working fire upgrade for additional resources. The first arriving Captain reported heavy smoke coming from the front of the house. Firefighters contained and controlled the fire in a back bedroom in approximately 24 minutes, preventing additional fire spread to the remainder of the house and an accessory dwelling unit. Two residents were assessed and treated for injuries on scene but they declined transportation to the hospital. One firefighter suffered a minor injury. In all, 25 firefighters and one fire prevention specialist responded to the fire. EPD conducted traffic and crowd control, and SDGE was dispatched to address utilities. The San Diego Red Cross coordinated alternative housing for two displaced tenants and three $250 "SAFER" gift cards provided by the California Fire Foundation were provided to the residents for basic relief needs. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Congratulations to Escondido Fire Department's newest Captain! Captain Craig Domingue promoted November 27 and is now leading the C-Shift crew at Fire Station #7 (N. Ash).
Congratulations to Tim Dowell and Maciel Maciel who both promoted to Engineer on November 27. Engineer Dowell is assigned to the ladder truck and Engineer Maciel is assigned to the fire engine, both at Station #1 (Quince Street).
Congratulations to Paramedic Jacob Stevens who promoted to Firefighter Paramedic on November 27. Jacob is currently attending the Palomar Fire Academy and after graduation he will begin his new assignment on December 18 at Fire Station #7 (N. Ash). On Monday, November 28, the truck and engine crews from Station #1 and several chief officers surprised Jacob at the fire academy and presented him with his new badge in front of the academy class.
Congratulations and welcome to Brennah McCague, Tanner Tunison and Chau Ly, Escondido Fire Department's newest Emergency Medical Technicians! They completed orientation training and are now assigned at our fire stations driving rescue ambulances.
