The City of Escondido’s Recreation Department is kicking off National Drowning Prevention Month with “April Pools Day”. The event is free and will take place on Saturday, April 4th at Washington Park Pool from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The goal of April Pools Day is to promote safety in and around water. The Aquatics staff will have a variety of activities aimed at teaching water safety such as offering a swim lesson and demonstrating lifesaving techniques, but this event is also about having water fun. An underwater egg hunt is planned and participants will watch Escondido Lifeguards and Fire Department demonstrate a real-time water rescue. Escondido’s Recreation Department will also be available with information on additional spring and summer programs for all ages.

The Washington Park Pool is located at 501 North Rose Street. For more information about this event or Recreation programs, call the Community Services Department at 760-839-4691.
