Acting Police Chief Cory Moles announced today his plan to retire in July 2013 after serving almost 27 years with the Escondido Police Department. His last day will be July 5, 2013. His replacement has not yet been named by City Manager Clay Phillips.

In making the announcement Chief Moles noted, “I’ve had an incredible career with the Escondido Police Department.  It’s been both an honor and privilege to work with so many talented individuals at the Police Department, in San Diego County law enforcement, on the city staff and in the community. It has truly been a remarkable experience!”

Mr. Phillips also expressed appreciation for Chief Moles’ service, saying, “The city has been fortunate to have benefited from Cory’s many talents and leadership.  We wish him a long and happy retirement!”

Cory began his career with Escondido in July 1986 as a Police Officer Trainee. Over the years he rose through the ranks and became the Assistant Police Chief in December 2007.
