The City of Escondido recognizes the month of May as “Drowning Prevention Month” in accordance with the National Drowning Prevention Alliance. Nationwide and in Escondido, May begins the swimming pool season. The main goal of “Drowning Prevention Month” is to raise awareness of the importance of making children and families water safe. In addition to the Learn-to-Swim classes, Escondido Recreation hosts Open Swim for the public at both James Stone and Washington Park pools for just $3 per person.
