The City of Escondido, in conjunction with the Professional Tree Care Association of San Diego (PTCA),  will hold an Arbor Day Observance on April 25, 2014 from 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on the grounds of the California Center for the Arts, Escondido (CCAE) and the Woodward Avenue Parking Lot. The PCTA will be donating personnel and equipment to provide proper tree care for the trees on the grounds of the CCAE and the Woodward Parking Lot, as well as the planting of 16 trees.

This will be the second year the PCTA has selected the City of Escondido to make their donation to tree health and tree safety.  It is the 13th consecutive year the PCTA and other commercial tree companies have provided this service to non-profit organizations.  Several PCTA-member tree care companies also will participate in this event along with Certified Arborists to ensure all work meets American National Standards Institute (ANSI)  A300 Standards and the International Society of Arboriculture Guidelines.

Proper tree care ensures that healthy urban trees provide the utmost benefits to the communities and environments where they grow. Research-proven benefits include: the capture and long-term storage of carbon dioxide, particulate pollution collection, urban runoff diversion, oxygen production, shade/cooling, increased property values, and improved human health among other benefits. Questions and comments regarding this work may  be directed to Bud Oliveira, Deputy Director of Public Works/Operations at 760-839-4665.
