Witch Creek Fire

To assist us in responding to future emergencies, we would appreciate your comments about how City staff responded to your needs and expectations during the Witch Creek Fire. We encourage you to take a few moments to let us know what you think worked well and also any ways in which our service may be improved in the future.

FREE sandbags are available for Escondido residents who have erosion concerns at the City's Public Works Yard, located at 475 North Spruce Street in Escondido. Sandbags may be picked up Monday–Thursday between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Park in the street and come into the Administration Building. Let us know you are here for sandbags and you will be escorted to the sandbag storage area.

Recovery Information

On behalf of the City of Escondido, please accept our heartfelt sympathy for your loss due to the wildfires. Your safety and well-being are our highest priority during this difficult time, and we are committed to doing everything we can to assist you.

In order to allow the City of Escondido to most effectively address your fire recovery needs, please provide us with your contact information, by calling (760) 839-4312. Providing us with your current phone number, e-mail address, and temporary residence address will mean that we can reach you promptly with time-critical information.

A new outreach effort, "Rebuild Escondido," has been established to assist fire victims in the Escondido area, including the unincorporated County areas surrounding Escondido (north of Pomerado Road or east of Del Dios Highway). A Rebuild Escondido Assistance Center will open on Monday, November 5, at 201 E. Grand Avenue, Suite 2B, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, 760-746-FIRE (3473). It is intended to serve as a clearing house to connect community offers of assistance with eligible fire victims needing help.

Fire victims are encouraged to make contact with the Rebuild Escondido Assistance Center Team (REACT) by calling (760) 746-FIRE to report their needs. Donors or volunteers also can call (760) 746-FIRE to obtain referrals as to how they can help. Donated items should NOT be brought to the center for distribution.

To assist with information sharing, the following E-mail address has been established:

rebuildescondido@gmail.com

REACT is a cooperative effort of local service clubs, faith-based organizations, businesses, individuals, the Escondido Charitable Foundation, the San Diego Community Foundation, and the City of Escondido. Additional organizations are welcome to join in the efforts.
