Fire Stations Project - Station 7


Current Status as of July 2008

  • The exterior stone veneer, paint, and plaster are complete.
  • The standing metal roof is being installed.
  • The roof mechanical units are in place and connected.
  • All exterior windows and doors are installed.
  • The interior painting is completed and terrazzo is being applied and finished for the dorm bathrooms.
  • The plastic laminate case work has been delivered and is being installed.
  • The emergency generator has been set.
  • The electricians are installing the finish trim for the outlets and lighting fixtures.
  • All of the out buildings are completed.
  • The finish grading for the site paving is ongoing in the north side of the project.
  • The apparatus bay slab will be placed soon, along with some of the site paving.
  • We are well into the finish stages now, with the exception of the roof. The exterior is nearly completed.

Decisions Made on the Project

  • Groundbreaking Ceremony was held September 18 – Ceremony Photos*
  • Awarded contract to Erickson Hall in the amount of $4,237,000.00 for the construction of Fire Station 7
  • Signed settlement agreement with Le Chateau Heritage Homeowners Association regarding sound wall
  • Approved Conditional Use Permit and Zone Change on October 25, 2006
  • Scheduled a neighborhood meeting in the Mitchell Room at City Hall on Wednesday, May 31, 2006, 6:00 p.m.
  • Reviewed preliminary design drawings
  • Selected WLC Architects to provide architectural services for Fire Station 7
  • Acquired land for Fire Station 7

Project Location and Description

This facility will be a medium-sized fire station located at 1220 North Ash Street on a 1.0 acre parcel. This one story structure will be approximately 8,950 square feet with about 4,448 square feet of apparatus floor and associated areas, 2,392 square feet of living quarter areas, 455 square feet of office area, and 160 square feet of public area. It will accommodate 1 paramedic fire engine, 1 wildland brush engine and 1 ambulance.

Project Budget

The total Prop P budget is $6.5 million, which includes land acquisition, design, construction, parking and furnishings.
