The Real Property Section administers the City's Real Property program to ensure that the City's real property assets are properly managed and that right of way needs are met. The Real Property Section provides support to various Departments within the City performing services such as asset management, right of way acquisition and all other functions related to municipal real estate matters.
(Property Management/Lease Management/Surplus Sales)
The City’s diverse real estate portfolio is regularly reviewed and strategically managed by the Real Property Section in order to ensure that assets are put to their highest and best uses, with an overriding objective of maximizing revenue to the City and reducing the City’s liability. The City owns over 200 real property assets and manages over 70 leases on them, including telecommunications leases with some of the region’s major wireless communications providers.
Right of Way
The Real Property Section is responsible for a broad array of right of way activities necessary for the construction of the City’s Capital Improvement Projects.
Right of way activities performed by Real Property staff include negotiation and acquisition, relocation assistance, title and appraisal review, as well as processing requests for street vacations, granting of easement deeds and accepting dedications and donations of property interests.
