SERVICES BUREAU

Purpose

The Services Bureau manages police records, fiscal operations, property and evidence, procurement and contracts for the Police Department. The Bureau also operates the Department’s Business Office.

Function & Structure

The Services Bureau is comprised of a Police Services Bureau Manager, a Records Manager, a Property and Evidence Technician, and a team of Records Technicians, Police Data Technicians, Department Specialists, Customer Service Representatives, Police Projects Specialists and Community Service Officers. There are three divisions within the bureau:

FISCAL OPERATIONS DIVISION

The Fiscal Operations Division manages the development and administration of assigned program budgets, processes equipment and procurement requests, prepares and maintains contracts, and forecasts funds needed for staffing and operations. Team members also facilitate fleet, building maintenance and technology projects.

RECORDS DIVISION

The Records Division is responsible for maintaining all criminal records. The Division processes and secures over 23,000 police reports for the Department annually.

The Department’s Business Office, open Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., provides general information to the public and the following services:

PROPERTY/EVIDENCE DIVISION

The Property/Evidence Division is located at 800 West Grand Avenue. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. If you are claiming property, you must provide the case number and photo identification, such as a driver's license. If you are under 18 years of age, you must bring a parent or guardian to claim property. Firearms will not be released without an appointment. Please call (760) 839-4740 with any questions.
