Escondido Police Department

TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT MOTORS

The Traffic Enforcement Motorcycle Team consists of eight motor officers, including a sergeant. The officers address neighborhood complaints and assist residents in improving the quality of life in neighborhoods with respect to traffic safety. The motorcycle team primarily functions as the enforcement element of the traffic safety program. Enforcement generally occurs with one or more motorcycle officers respond to a designated problem area and issue citations for traffic violations.

The Police Department's Traffic Division may also utilize other alternatives in improving traffic law obedience. Traffic radar trailers may be deployed to introduce an educational component to voluntary traffic safety compliance. Other forms of traffic education include neighborhood and school presentations and personal contacts.
