City of Escondido

• The City has been awarded the California Redevelopment Association (CRA) Award of Excellence for its successful redevelopment project Via Roble. This project is the winner in the category of Mixed-Use Development and is one of nine projects honored this year for major contributions to California communities.
  
  
• Queen Califia's Magical Circle, a sculpture garden in Kit Carson park, by the internationally renown artist Niki de Saint Phalle, won an Orchid for public art in the 2006 Orchids and Onions Awards ceremony.

Finance Department

• Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada, for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.

Police Department

• Officer Matt Dixon – named San Diego County Vehicle Theft Recovery Officer of the Year for 2005 by the Auto Theft Advisory Committee.
