Volunteering at the Library
The Escondido Public Library has volunteers that work in all the different departments performing various tasks. For current openings, please see below.

The library does not accept any court-ordered community service

All potential volunteers must be interviewed by the Volunteer Coordinator to make sure needs and goals are compatible

Current Volunteer Opportunities
East Valley Branch Library
- Adult Volunteers needed to teach a Families for Literacy Class sponsored by McDonald's. Ideal for retired teachers. Hours are 1 evening per week for 2 hours. Program runs for 5 weeks starting in October. Curriculum and training provided.
- Teens needed to help younger children use the computers. Hours are Tuesday through Friday after school, approximately 3 - 5 PM.
Main Library
- Volunteers needed to shelve library materials - adults or older teens. Lifting and bending required. Knowledge of Dewey Decimal System helpful. Hours vary.
- Adult volunteers needed to monitor the public Internet computers and provide limited assistance to patrons - hours vary.
- Friends of the Library looking for
adult volunteers - hours vary
- Adult volunteer needed to help with craft program in the children's department, 2 - 4 hours per month.
