Getting a Library Card
Visit the Customer Service desk at either the Main Library or the East Valley branch to pick up an application. You must present ID along with proof of local address together with your completed application to receive your card. The first library card issued to you is free.
Acceptable forms of ID include:
- Valid Driver's License
- California ID card
- Resident Alien Card
- Military ID
- Passport
- Social Security Card
Parents or guardians must sign application and show their ID for teens and children under 18.
The Escondido Library is not connected with any other libraries in the San Diego County area. You may only use your card at the Escondido Main Library or the East Valley Branch Library.
Lost Cards
Please report lost cards immediately to the Customer Service desk
(760) 839-4684. Replacement cards cost $2.50 for adults and $1.00 for
those under 18 years of age.
Home Borrower Program
The Escondido Public Library Home Borrower Program delivers library materials to individuals who are either permanently confined to their homes, convalescent or in resident care facilities in Escondido, or temporarily confined to their home following an accident or injury.
You will need a valid Escondido Public Library card. This card will be specially coded for Home Borrower privileges.
How many items may I check out?
- 20 books
- 20 magazines
- 20 paperbacks
- 5 books on tape
- 5 videotapes
- 5 CDs
- 3 DVDs
- 3 CD-Roms
How long may I check out items?
- Books and magazines - 6 weeks
- Books on tape - 4 weeks
- CDs and CD-Roms - 2 weeks
- Videos and DVDs - 1 week
Books may be renewed as long as no one else is waiting for them.
Late Fines and Additional Fees
No fines will be charged if an item is returned late.
