Graffiti is a blighting influence on our entire community. It is an act of vandalism that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars to clean up every year. Although the City of Escondido dedicates significant resources to control graffiti, the City cannot be effective acting alone. Private citizens are encouraged to take active steps toward maintaining their individual property, and reporting graffiti whenever it appears.

Reporting Graffiti in Progress

If you see graffiti vandalism in progress, call 9-1-1 and report it immediately to the Escondido Police.

Do not confront the vandals. Although they may appear to be harmless, they may be carrying weapons. The police will respond based on the priority of the crime compared to others for which they have calls at the time.

Reporting Existing Graffiti

City crews remove graffiti from city property, as well as from private property but only with the owner's consent. If you are reporting graffiti on YOUR property, you will need to fill out the Graffiti Eradication Release Authorization Form (ENGLISH / SPANISH). This form can be emailed to pubworks@escondido.org or mailed to City of Escondido, 475 North Spruce Street, Escondido, CA 92025, Attention: Graffiti.

If you see graffiti in your neighborhood on public or private property, report it immediately to the Graffiti Control Program.

  • To report graffiti damage and request free cleanup by a City crew, call the Graffiti Hotline: 760-839-4OFF (4633)
  • Another option is to use the online Graffiti Removal Request Form
  • If you prefer to clean up graffiti on your property or in your neighborhood yourself, a free cleanup kit can be picked up at either City Hall (210 N. Broadway) or the Public Works Yard (475 N. Spruce St.).
