Senior Advisory Board


Purpose

The Escondido Senior Advisory Board acts as the principal advocate for all matters pertaining to older adults. These matters include diversity issues, health, housing and retirement, community resources, public safety, legislation and advocacy, and transportation. The specific objectives of the board include:

  • Advising the Older Adult Services Manager of the Joslyn Center and the Older Adult Services Division on all matters affecting citizens over age fifty

  • Advising the City Council on all matters affecting citizens over age fifty

  • Advising the advisory council of the County Aging and Independence Services (A.I.S.) on all matters relating to the development, implementation, and administration of the area plan that would affect Escondido residents
Membership: Seven members. At least two members shall be involved in activities, clubs or programs offered at the Escondido Joslyn Senior Center (Municipal Code §18-151).
Meeting Schedule: Third Tuesday of every other month, 9:00 a.m. (meeting locations may vary)
Length of Term: Four years
Responsible Department: Community Services Department
Qualifications/Conditions: Resident of city of Escondido
Compensation: None
Financial Disclosure: Must submit conflict of interest statements
Training: City staff provides an initial orientation and ethics training in accordance with state law.
