The Gateway Shopping Center, a $20 million project, was completed in Spring 2002. The Center has 86,500 square feet of retail space and 28,500 square feet of Class A office space.
Barnes & Noble, Michael's Arts & Crafts, Calumet (formerly North County Camera), and Mattress Discounters anchor the Center. The Center's eateries include: Baja Fresh, Quizno's, Panda Express, and Pizzeria Uno Chicago Grill. The anchor office tenants include: the San Diego Union-Tribune North County office and First National Bank. A unique feature of the Center is a wonderful piece of public art called "Community" by Jeff Lindeneau. The art was relocated from a roadway median to the corner of the Center at Tulip Street and West Valley Parkway. The developer provided a nicely landscaped viewing area around the art.
The Gateway Center is conveniently located just east of I-15 off of the Valley Parkway exit and next to the Escondido Transit Center.
