The City's dead animal removal contractor is D.A.R. Contractors. To report any dead animals for pickup, please call (619) 390-8204.

D.A.R. is responsible for picking up dead animals from public right-of ways within 24 hours. Our contract has clauses for immediate pickup as well (livestock, emergencies, etc.), but we have to pay an extra fee per pickup. Citizens and employees who call D.A.R. should be prepared to provide their name and phone number (in case D.A.R. can't find the animal), the location of the animal to be removed, the nearest cross street to the animal's location, and the type of animal (if known). D.A.R. will pick up animals on private property; however, this is not covered in our contact and property owners will be charged a fee for this service.
