San Diego County's First Fully Integrated, Universally Accessible Boundless Playground
With the City Council's approval, plans are under way to create a $262,500 Boundless Playground where children of all abilities can play together.
What is Boundless Playgrounds?
Boundless Playgrounds, Inc., is a unique 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that helps children, families, communities, schools, parks, civic groups, municipalities, hospitals and other non-profit organizations across the United States and Canada create playgrounds that can be universally shared by children of all abilities, including children with physical, sensory and developmental disabilities. Boundless Playgrounds provides technical, design and support services to determined people and organizations that want to develop these special and much needed playgrounds. In all Boundless Playgrounds projects, at least 70% of the play activities can be enjoyed by children with physical disabilities without having to leave their support equipment behind. Equally important, equipment is designed to be sensory rich so children with developmental and sensory disabilities (like cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and visual impairment) can actively, appropriately and safely participate with their typically able peers.
