Lake Rules and Regulations


Sunrise at Lake Wohlford

  1. Alcohol prohibited in all areas.
  2. No swimming or water contact. This is a domestic drinking water reservoir.
  3. Pets are strictly forbidden in the park.
  4. Fires are not permitted—extreme fire danger.
  5. Daily permits are required for fishing. Obtain permits at Lake Wohlford Cafe (760) 749-6585 or at Oakvale Park (760) 749-2895.
  6. Restricted Areas:
    • West End of Lake—lake and shoreline between buoy line and dam closed to the public.
    • East End of Lake—lake and shoreline upstream from buoy line closed to the public.
  7. All State Fish and Game laws, litter laws, and Health Department laws will be enforced.
  8. Kernel corn is prohibited as bait.
  9. Motor vehicles, motor bikes, mopeds, and any other motorized devices must stay in approved areas and be operated so as not to disturb people fishing.
  10. No boats will be operated by persons under 16, unless accompanied by an adult.
  11. Boat sizes allowed:
    • Maximum—20 ft.
    • Minimum—10 ft.
    • No sailboats. See Ranger for inflatable boat and float tube restrictions.
  12. Report all fish caught to dock attendant.
  13. Violators of any lake rule may be asked to leave lake property.
  14. No glass containers of any kind allowed.
  15. Permits are not transferable.

Failure to comply with park regulations may cause immediate suspension by the Park Ranger of fishing privileges within the park. All fees will be forfeited.
