The Escondido Fire Department Fire Prevention Division performs plan checking for:
- New sprinkler systems.
- Fire alarm systems.
- Hood and duct systems.
- Spray booths.
- LPG tank installations.
- Rincon del Diablo Fire District residential remodeling and improvement projects for county area projects.
Plans are checked as quickly as possible but may require a minimum of 21 working days. Notification will be made as soon as the plans are ready to be picked up.

Sprinkler systems require:
- Three sets of plans.
- Fire Department Current Fees*

Fire alarm systems require:
- Three sets of plans.

Hood and duct systems require:
- Three sets of plans.

Spray booths require:
- Four sets of plans, including sprinkler plans with hydraulic calculations. Complete plans must be submitted or the plans will be held until all information has been received.

LPG (Propane) tank installations require:
- Four sets of plans.
- Completed Aboveground Tank Installation Application form.

Rincon del Diablo Fire District remodeling and improvement projects require:
- Two sets of plans that have been stamped by the County Building Department.
- County Site Mitigation Letter.
- Plan check fee made payable to the "Rincon del Diablo Water District" at 46¢ per square foot.
- Applicant must then deliver Escondido Fire Department approved plans and signed Mitigation Letter to the County Building Department for payment of calculated site mitigation fees.
