Before you decide to purchase any type of fire safety equipment, call the Escondido Fire Department to make certain that whatever you're considering is appropriate for your home and situation.

Don't Be Fooled

No one from the Escondido Fire Department will ever call you or come to your home to perform an in-home inspection unless you call first to request one. If someone comes to your home representing the Escondido Fire Department, or any other fire department, ask to see official identification. If you live in Escondido, the Escondido Fire Department will come to your home at no charge to help you look for fire hazards and plan what to do in case of fire. While Escondido Fire Department personnel may recommend purchasing smoke alarms or other safety equipment, they will never attempt to sell you anything. Need A Smoke Alarm?

If you are an older adult who does not have a working smoke alarm in your home and cannot afford to purchase one, the Senior Service Council will provide a smoke alarm and a representative from the Escondido Fire Department will install it for you.
