On November 2, 2004, Escondido voters approved Proposition P, which will provide $82.6 million for the construction of a much-needed new joint Police and Fire Facility, as well as the construction of three new neighborhood fire stations and a replacement Fire Station 1. More detailed information about the projects can be found at www.escondido.org/safety/.

The Escondido Fire Department Administration offices are currently located at Escondido City Hall, 201 North Broadway. The new combined Police and Fire Facility will be located at 1163 North Centre City Parkway. The Fire Department area will include administrative and training spaces, fire prevention services, paramedic services management, and community education areas.

Five Fire Stations presently house emergency response personnel and equipment.

Fire Station #1, Center City, is currently under construction in its original location at 310 North Quince. Until the buildings are completed, staffing and equipment are located in temporary quarters nearby. The new 28,340 square foot facility, hose tower and classroom will house 1 paramedic fire engine, 1 truck company, 2 ambulances and 1 battalion chief vehicle. Illustration of Future Fire Station 1
Fire Station #2, East Valley, is located at 421 North Midway. Housed here are 1 fire engine, 1 brush engine, 2 ambulances, and the Police/Fire Mobile Command unit. Station #2 is the only two-story fire station, which means it also is the only one with a gleaming brass pole. Fire Station 2
Fire Station #3 is located at 1808 Nutmeg Street and houses 1 paramedic fire engine and 1 wildland brush engine. Fire Station 3
Fire Station #4, Bear Valley, is located adjacent to Kit Carson Park at 3301 Bear Valley Parkway, and houses 1 fire engine and 1 brush engine. Fire Station 4
Fire Station #5, Felicita, is located southwest of I-15 at Felicita at 2319 Felicita, and houses 1 fire engine, 1 brush engine, and 1 ambulance. Fire Station 5

The Escondido Fire Department does not publish individual fire station phone numbers as a matter of security and in order to comply with outside agency regulations.

In an emergency, calling 9-1-1 ensures the fastest response by the closest and most appropriate available unit. For further information, to schedule a station tour, or to speak with a specific fire department employee based at a fire station, call Fire Department Administration at (760) 839-5400 during regular business hours.

To arrange for a group to tour of any of our facilities, contact Carol Rea, crea@escondido.org or (760) 839-5411.
