Joslyn Senior Center


Joslyn Senior CenterJointly funded by the City, County, and private donations, the Joslyn Senior Center offers a wide range of services and programs to older adults, with membership starting at age 50.

Over 138 organizations, 300 volunteers, and 3,000 members enjoy participating in social activities and direct services as well as support services at the Center. Other activities are offered in the evenings through Community Services, Adult Education, OASIS, and a multitude of community organizations.

The Joslyn Senior Center's monthly bulletin contains detailed information regarding programs and activities offered through the City of Escondido, OASIS, Palomar College, Enterprise, Inc., the Senior Service Council Escondido, and many other groups.

Joslyn Nutrition Program

The Joslyn Nutrition Program is sponsored by the City of Escondido and the County of San Diego Aging and Independence Services. Developed to promote healthy and nutritionally balance lunch for seniors, the nutrition program serves delicious meals Monday through Friday in our beautiful dining room! Lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. For those ages 60 years and older meals are served for a suggested donation of $3.00; for those 59 and younger the cost for the meal is $4.00.

Please make reservation at least 24 hours before you plan to join us for lunch, by calling (760) 839-4803. Please leave a message letting us know what day or days you would like to dine.

Van Service

The Joslyn Senior Center partners with Redwood Senior Homes and Service for transportation to and from the Joslyn Senior Center. Van service is available for those that live in the city of Escondido from your home to the Joslyn Senior Center. To make your reservation please call (760) 738-6590. For those 60 years and older, a suggested donation of 30 cents each way is greatly appreciated. For those 59 and younger a fee of $1.50 each way is paid when you board. Although it is not required at this time, we do encourage you to dine with us at the Joslyn Senior Center each time you ride.

The Senior Center offers:

  • A large auditorium for weekly dances, Bingo, exercise, and meetings.
  • Tournament-quality shuffleboard courts.
  • A library with a large print type viewer.
  • A billiards room.
  • Wide screen television room.
  • Gift shop with lovely consignment items.
  • Thrift shop manned by all senior volunteers.
  • A dining room where delicious lunches are served daily.
  • Daily van service for the Nutrition Program.
  • Volunteer opportunities for those who would like to assist with the front information desk, office needs, or coffee service.
  • Minor Home Repair Program sponsored by Caring Neighbors, Lutheran Social Services.
  • Project Care (Community Action to Reach the Elderly).
  • A drop site for Meals-on-Wheels, Greater San Diego, Inc. for volunteers to pick up hot meals to deliver to homebound frail, elderly seniors.
  • Preventive health screening by a county public health nurse by appointment.

Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for BINGO

BINGO:
Doors are open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Public may start purchasing BINGO packs at 9 a.m.
Ticket and dauber sales begin at 10:30 a.m.
Sales of all BINGO packs, tickets and daubers end at 12 p.m.
BINGO starts promptly at 12:15 p.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m.

Nutrition Program:
Monday through Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in our dining room.
