For Immediate Release

Date: February 17, 2017

Contact: Ed Domingue, Public Works Director (760) 839-4813

Weather forecasts indicate a strong storm approaching with high winds and 2" - 4" of rain beginning this afternoon. Due to the saturated ground conditions and forecasted high winds, the potential for fallen branches and trees, power outages, fallen power lines, flooding and adverse driving conditions is increased.

Residents are advised to plan ahead and be alert. Up to ten sandbags, plus sand for filling them, will be provided to residents at Kit Carson Park located at 3333 Bear Valley Parkway. During regular business hours, residents can get bags from recreation staff at the park office near Fire Station #4. After hours, bags will be left near the amphitheater. Public Works staff will check during this rain event to keep supplies available.

To report fallen branches and trees, flooding or other storm-related issues, please call the Public Works Department at (760) 839-4668.
