Escondido Child Advocacy CoalitionThe Escondido Child Advocacy Coalition is a multi-agency organization whose mission is to increase the availability, affordability, and quality of childcare for families, employers, and the community as a whole.

The coalition provides linkages for communication, advocacy, collaboration, and program development. It focuses on community energies and resources for children and their families, thereby benefiting the entire community of Escondido.

Community Involvement:

  • Provide childcare brochures for the community
  • Act in an advisory capacity to the Child, Youth & Family Coordinator
  • Work to increase amount of infant care, drop-in case, weekend and evening care, and mildly-ill childcare

Membership:

The general membership of the Escondido Child Advocacy Coalition shall be open to persons from all agencies, organizations, associations, and independent individuals providing services to children and their families within the Escondido area.

Meetings are held the 1st Thursday of September, November, January, March, & May, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Meeting location is City Hall. Committees meet on an "as-needed" basis.

Goals:

Enhancement of Quality in Childcare

  • Annual recognition of childcare providers, employers, and community leaders who have shown outstanding services to children
  • Provide training and technical assistance to local providers, parents, and employers
  • Encourage accreditation of childcare facilities and family childcare homes in Escondido
  • Advocate the development of programs and increase partnerships between local social service agencies, employers, childcare centers, and family childcare homes
  • Annual event for parents, providing information on choosing quality childcare as well as information on local services available to children and their families
